Restrictions On Foreigners Trading In Secondhand Clothing

The Ghana Used Clothing Dealers Association wishes to inform the general public that, in accordance with local trade regulations and in an effort to protect and promote local businesses, foreigners are strictly prohibited from engaging in the trade of secondhand clothing within the designated secondhand clothing markets and spaces across the country.

This measure has been implemented to ensure that the opportunities within this sector are reserved for Ghanaian citizens, thereby supporting local entrepreneurship and fostering sustainable economic growth. We urge all stakeholders, including market operators, vendors, and the general public, to comply with this directive and to report any violations to the appropriate authorities.

The Association will continue to work closely with law enforcement and relevant agencies to enforce this regulation and ensure that the secondhand clothing trade remains an accessible and fair avenue for local traders.

Thank you for your cooperation.
